I HAD ALSO BEEN AMERICAN

29.10.23

I'm sorry, but

I'd rather just follow my lead

as an american poet.

We english spearks don't have this taboo

about prosódia or pés

or anything like that.

We speak softly or even toughly

but uniformely.

There're no oscilations.

Yet in America there're some.

We're not the same.

Our language is not the same.

Don't you hate America

or you can hate it.

Do it either ways knowing what you're hating.

America is not only a white country.

The first american indeed was Americo.

When he first came there

there was plenty indigenous people that still are

here. Living or dead but they do.

Do you feel freed from guilt?

Hate what you want,

I'm not interested.

I'd rather discover myself as a poet

uneasy about prosódia or pés or

genocídio dos jovens negros favelados

or milícia or breja

that I don't drink.

. . .
